L5 Remote is an app-driven accessory, which can be used to design remotes with or without the accessory. remote claims to deliver and replace the power of a whole bunch of remotes with the elegance and simplicity of an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, thereby avoiding clutter and confusion. It is said to work without Wi-Fi, external power, or batteries and can be carried anywhere you want to control TV, cable box, DVD, DVR, and most devices that come with an IR remote. It also enables the user to design the desired remote by drag and drop. The useful buttons can be kept, while the ones that are not useful may be deleted. It also enables quick and easy setup of activities and macros and an intuitive app for iPhone and iPod touch. It has a remote capacity of 100,000 button/1000.
Another app called Remote Buddy can also turn an iPhone into a remote for your Mac OS X. It reportedly has an ability to control more than 100 applications, virtual keyboard and mouse, presentations; media centre software and important system settings. The remote controls supported by this app are iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple Remote, etc.
Steps of Turn iPhone into a Remote contol:
STEP 1: First you have to download Remote Buddy app and then install it on your iPhone/iPod touch.
STEP 2: Now from the applications folder you have to run Remote Buddy and then Open preferences.
STEP 3: Within the preference window you have to enable the AJAX Remote.
STEP 4: Now you will be asked to set a password. If you don’t want to set password then leave this field blank.
STEP 5: At the bottom of the preference window, you will be able to see a url. Now you have to open this url in the safari browser of iPhone/iPod touch.
