With Apple’s new service called “Find my iPhone“, you can locate your lost or stolen mobile remotely using GPS. This application can be downloaded from the App Store and it’s free if your device is updated with operating system iOS 4.2. But if you own an earlier generation iPod Touch or iPhone, you have to subscribe to the service through MobileMe for an annual fee.
This feature works on devices updated with the latest operating system iOS 4.2, which can be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes. The misplaced phone should have a MobileMe account configured and the feature enabled from the Settings menu. Even if you do not subscribe to the program, still you can install the application in another Apple device to track your lost iPhone.
So if you have lost your iPod, iPhone, or iPad and want to find it, use Apple’s “Find my iPhone” service. The application shows a map with the correct location of the lost device. There is no need to worry about your data as the application enables to lock the misplaced device remotely with a code. Users can also remotely wipe all data from the device or display a message on the device’s screen on whom to return it.
